Evelyne Bégaud has a PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences (Microbiology & Ecology). She is a graduate of the Institut Pasteur where she spent her entire career, until 2017, when she became President of BioSpeedia (a spin-off from Institut Pasteur), which she co-founded with Yves Germani.

Beginning in research at the Institut Pasteur in New Caledonia, mainly in the field of microbiology and in immunology, she participated in several research and teaching missions in microbiology in several countries in South-East Asia.

After a stint at the Institut Pasteur in Paris, where her work was mainly focused on molecular biology, she began a stay of more than seven years in the Central African Republic, at the Institut Pasteur in Bangui. There she managed the Retroviruses Laboratory, where her research was done in close collaboration with the “Département de Biologie des Rétrovirus” at the Institut Pasteur in Paris. During this stay, Evelyne Bégaud was in charge of the immunology course at the Faculty of Medicine of Bangui.

Returning to the Institut Pasteur in Paris in 2003, Evelyne played an important role in the creation and management of the Center for Biological Resources of the Institut Pasteur (CRBIP), and the validation of rapid diagnosis tests of infectious diseases.
